Over 2 million people in Canada suffer from diabetes. Since 1953, the Canadian Diabetes Association has dedicated itself to raising awareness, providing service to improve the lives of those who have diabetes, reaching out to those at risk and researching, funding and accelerating the search for a cure.
The Association has a national vision of diabetes care and prevention, working with the health care sector, governments, corporations and others regarding the future of the diabetes in Canada. The CDA offers many programs and services such as peer-support groups, retreats, camps, cooking classes and grocery store tours, physical activity and nutrition promotion.
Team Diabetes is the main national fundraising mechanism for the Canadian Diabetes Association. Members of Team Diabetes consist of men and women who have committed themselves to raise awareness and money for diabetes by participating in one of five international marathon locations. The marathon is a test of both physical and mental endurance and also a celebration of success for helping make a difference for over 2 million Canadians living with diabetes. Team Diabetes demonstrates the benefits of healthy living and shows the best way to prevent type 2 diabetes through physical activity and living a healthy lifestyle.
IntriKate Events, a newly established event planning and promotions company, is partnering with Team Diabetes to raise money for the cause. “Toronto’s Finest Bachelor & Bachelorette Auction” is the second annual produced by IntriKate.
